Biografie

Raphael Scheible studied Computer Science and Psychology at the University of Freiburg (Germany) and Queen’s University in Kingston (Canada). Subsequently, with small experience from the private sector, his scientific career started at the Center for Chronic Immunodeficiency at the University of Freiburg, mainly working on the registry of the European Society for Immunodeficiencies. Afterwards, he joined the Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics (IMBI) of the University of Freiburg. In this context he started to work on natural language processing (NLP) and started to lead the NLP activities within the MIRACUM consortium. Further, he led the development and implementation of the first German single language RoBERTa model, named GottBERT. Semantic search forms another topic he has been working on: He leads the technical development and implementation of the gap-search, which is a search platform, specifically for medical topics (https://search.gap-medinfo.de). In 2021 he joined the MRI and therefore the DiFUTURE consortium. Today, to join forces in NLP, he leads MIRACUM and DIFUTURE in the topic of NLP.
